Climbing the Net Zero Mountain

11 Jul 2024

As part of Net Zero Week, BEAMA's Head of Net Zero and Clean Tech, Amy Collins, shares her insights on the pivotal role of our new Net Zero Service. Designed to empower businesses with the knowledge and tools to forge their unique paths up the Net Zero mountain, this service is all about ensuring consistency, comparability and informed decision making.

“ It’s exciting to see Net Zero Week align with the arrival of a new Government dedicated to green industries, clean energy, and advancing our Net Zero goals. There are increasing commercial and policy reasons for businesses to act on industrial decarbonisation and wider climate action, as we discussed in our recently published Climate Change for Business Report. For each new conversation I have with businesses, government and the market about the challenge ahead of us, the more convinced I am that we need to be shouting more about what’s to come. Every business should be aware of the climb they have ahead of them to become Net Zero – yes it will be filled with challenges, but also with opportunities and certainty. Each path to Net Zero is unique, but there are fundamentals that underpin everyone’s journey and gaps to fill to ensure a level playing field with consistent and comparable Net Zero and sustainability practices. That's why BEAMA introduced our Net Zero Service. This developing offering goes beyond explaining why decarbonisation is essential; it focuses on informing you of the routes available to achieve it and where we need to achieve it together. ”

I often get questions on whether this service is a consultancy – it isn’t.

We aim to equip you with the knowledge to choose your own path and more confidently tackle the challenges of reaching Net Zero. Using consultants may form part of this, but our goal is to help you become informed about the options available to your company to decarbonise, allowing you to pick the route that best fits your business and commercial requirements.

Put simply, we’re putting resource in please to help you plan to climb this mountain – and climb it well.

Below, you'll find links to learn more about our Net Zero Service for both BEAMA members and non-members. You can also reach out to us for a conversation – something I am always happy to do considering the importance of collaboration in achieving our goals.

Let's work together to be consistent, comparable, yet flexible, and reduce emissions together.
