SCIP database prototype now available
27 February 2020
The SCIP database prototype is now available here . BEAMA are now forming a working group within our membership to gather feedback on this prototype and inform continued work with ECHA and the Commission. It has come to light the burden of this database could be significant and we encourage all our members to look at the prototype and test its applicability. Key questions to ask are:
- Do we need functionality to be better automated?
- How applicable is the database for machine to machine upload of data?
- are data requirements going beyond Art 33 in REACH (we understand they do), and is this asking for 2nd tier data not currently required by Art 33?
The SCIP prototype is available to support duty holders who want to get familiar with preparing SCIP notifications and test the submission functionalities before the process officially starts at the end of October 2020.
ECHA has established a harmonised IUCLID format for preparing SCIP notifications. More information about the SCIP IUCLID format is available on the dedicated SCIP format web page.
The prototype contains three different elements:
- Data preparation in IUCLID.
- Data submission in the ECHA Submission portal.
- Material for system-to-system submission of data.
To access ECHA Cloud Services and submit data into the ECHA portal you need to have an ECHA account with an associated Legal Entity. An ECHA Account is the starting point to gain access to ECHA’s IT systems which include ePIC, R4BP, REACH-IT as well as ECHA Cloud Services. From here, you can manage access to your ECHA Account and administer the information related to your Legal Entity. Watch how to create your own ECHA account with this video.
If you already have an ECHA Account, you can already use your credentials to log into ECHA Cloud Services and subscribe to the IUCLID Cloud Trial and IUCLID Cloud for SMEs services. Watch how in this video.
