Rules of Origin – Supplier Declarations

24 November 2021

Under the UK-EU Trade & Cooperation Agreement, goods can be imported from the EU to the UK with zero tariffs if they meet the Rules of Origin.  One way to prove that goods qualify is through a Supplier’s Declaration of the origin of the import but during 2021 an easement has been applied by UK Customs so these have not been required.  This easement ends on 31st December 2021 so UK importers may need to start to obtain Supplier’s Declarations for some EU imports.  The new Government guidance and FAQs explain where these my be required and how to use them.
