New RED Guide available

The European Commission has made available the new version of the RED Guide. Key changes:

  • New: Chapter 1.2.2.1 on MRA with Switzerland
  • Chapter 1.6.3.1 with regard to so -called “Combined Equipment“: Reference but no link included to the document
  • Chapter 1.6.3.3: RED-Exemptions: Test-Equipment, was added as exempted equipment
  • Previous Chapter 1.6.3.9: Several Products in the same packaging was deleted
  • Chapter 1.6.3.8 on Construction kits was adjusted
  • New: Chapter 1.6.3.9 on Radio Components was included
  • Chapter 1.6.3.10 (previously 1.6.3.11) on Vehicles: Further information was added
  • Chapter 1.6.3.11 on Fixed Installations: Further information was added
  • Chapter 2.6 e) on DoC: Reference on Software-updates over the air was deleted
  • Chapter 2.6 f on CE-marking: small changes with regard to the references on specific directives
  • Chapter 2,6 i) Geographic Information: Informational on Implementing Act for Art 10(10) was added
  • Chapter 2.6 J) Instructions: Changes in the text including the part on software example and requirements for paper-versions of information. Unfortunately, we were not successful with regard to Art 10(8) and (10) which are not safety-relevant but manufacturers still have to provide information on paper
  • Art 9.3: Applicability of RED with other EU legislation on safety and EMC: We successfully managed to include the lex specialis for safety and EMC giving preference to the more specific directive in case of overlap
