Orgalime press release on EU safeguards against steel imports

This highlights that this will have a disproportionately adverse effect on steel-using industries denied access to imports.
As you may know, there’s an ongoing Safeguard Investigation on steel. On the 16 of January, Member States have endorsed the European Commission decision to impose definitive safeguard measures on imports of steel (see here). The definitive measures will enter into force at the beginning of February 2019.
As a reaction to the definitive safeguard measures, Orgalime, together with other downstream steel users, has published a Press Release to protest the need for EU safeguards.
