Launch of public consultation on Internet-connected radio equipment and wearable radio equipment
02 September 2019
The European Commission has launched an open public consultation on Internet-connected radio equipment and wearable radio equipment, which will run until 15 November. The consultation specifically looks at different policy options to strengthen:
(i) data and privacy protection, and
(ii) protection from fraud.
Should binding requirements be considered, these would entail the adoption of specific delegated acts that would require wireless devices or some of their radio equipment components to have a demonstrated adequate level of protection of data and privacy and/or from fraud, for them to be placed on the market.
