INDUSTRY LED EV TASK FORCE

20 February 2019

BEAMA is participating in the Electric Vehicle and Energy Taskforce set up to help meet the aims of the Government’s Road to Zero strategy published in 2018. The steering group is senior level and includes staff from DfT, OLEV, BEIS and Ofgem. There are also five work packages (WPs), with BEAMA involved in all.

The Taskforce has three deliverables:

  • To allow cross-sectorial stakeholders to connect, collaborate and influence the market for EVs, chargepoints and a smart energy system.
  • To assist in the development of a consultation on secondary legislation (ie the practical steps) after the Automated and Electric Vehicles Act of 2018. The WPs are expected to report back in summer, with the consultation issued shortly after.
  • To make proposals to ensure UK is ready for and able to best exploit the mass take up of EVs, whilst ensuring that consumers are protected.

The work package leads updated stakeholders at a recent forum - click link to the right-hand side to view the detailed presentations.
