F Gases: Using and trading fluorinated gas and ozone-depleting substances: rules and processes during transition period and post 1 January 2021

12 May 2020

The UK is now in the position where it will be leaving the EU on 1 January 2021 and therefore UK regulations will apply from that date. Until that date the EU regulations continue to apply.

F gas regulation will remain the same during the transition period. This means you must continue to operate as you did before 31 January 2020.

UK guidance will be updated in 2020 with what you need to do for activities from 1 January 2021.

The EU is phasing down HFCs by 79% by 2030 from a 2012 baseline.

You’ll still need to comply with EU regulations on products you place on the EU market after exit.
