BEAMA publishes updated Guide to IP Codes

BEAMA has updated its Guide to IP Codes to reflect the changes in BS EN 60529. 'IP' is commonly referred to as 'Ingress Protection'. The guide aids understanding and application of the requirements for degrees of protection provided by enclosures. It describes the classifications for degrees of protection provided by enclosures of electrical equipment with a rated voltage not exceeding 1000V ac and 1500V dc. Pictorial representation of IP codes and typical specifications are provided. Additional information has been included having regard to the particular considerations necessary for equipment intended for exposure to weather and to the requirement for natural ventilation, which exists with some products.
