BEAMA Response - UK water efficiency label consultation

28 November 2022

Defra recently ran a consultation asking for views from industry on UK Government plans to introduce a mandatory UK water efficiency label for certain water using products (this consultation ran from 2nd September to 25th November this year).

The consultation document from Defra can be found here. This sets out the proposed approach for mandatory labelling and the products that would be covered. It also gives details regarding the design of the label, how the label would be displayed and standards to support the label. The aim of requiring a mandatory UK water efficiency label is to reduce water usage impacts on the environment. The environmental, social and economic costs of the proposals are also provided in the document linked to above.

The BEAMA response submitted to this consultation can be found on the right of this page.

A total of 93 responses were given to this consultation and UK Government are planning to publish their response by the end of May this year.
